Born and raised in Gorakhpur, Dr. Verma holds a Doctorate in Phyto-pesticidal Toxicology, a Master’s degree in Entomology, and a Graduate degree in Life Science from M.G.P.G. College, Gorakhpur. Her scientific training nurtured in her a keen analytical understanding of nature — an awareness that beautifully informs her musical sensibilities. She believes that every element in nature carries its own rhythm, sound, and emotional expression, and it is this philosophy that fuels her creativity.
Music has been her vocation since childhood. She received her foundational training under eminent gurus including the Late Pt. Ram Narayan Mani Tripathi, Dr Sharad Mani Tripathi, Smt. Nargis Warsi of the Saini Gharana, and Pt. Mohinder Sarin. She later had the privilege of learning from Vidushi Savita Devi ji, the Thumri doyenne of the Benaras Gharana, absorbing the intricate nuances and emotive depth of the tradition. This rich and rigorous training shaped her into a versatile vocalist, equally adept in classical and light musical forms.
With a deep understanding of Indian ragas and a natural flair for innovation, Dr. Verma has developed a distinctive and individualistic style of singing. Often described as calm, creative, and an inspired perfectionist, she brings sensitivity, discipline, and originality to every performance.
An accomplished Top Grade Artist of All India Radio, New Delhi, she has presented Thumri and Ghazal recitals at prestigious platforms such as the India International Centre (IIC), India Habitat Centre (IHC), Subah-e-Benaras, NaMo Ghat, Kathika Cultural Haveli, Vijay Diwas 2025, Epicentre Gurgaon, Lok Kala Manch, and the Civil Services Officers’ Institute (CSOI). In recognition of her multifaceted achievements, she was honored with the Distinguished Women Achievers Award in 2018.
